A home theater that survives Florida construction
How to decide between a dedicated cinema and a media suite in a Sarasota house — acoustics, CBS, tile, and calibration. LUMA Smart Home.
A projector and a dark paint chip are not a theater. Tile and CBS will tell you that on night one.
Sarasota bonus rooms over the garage are the usual candidate. Sometimes they become a cinema. Sometimes they should stay a media suite with a serious display, two good speakers, and lighting that can actually go down. We would rather say that in week one than calibrate a room that cannot hold bass.
CBS, tile, and sliders are reflective. Dedicated rooms get absorption, bass management, and a door that closes. Media suites get honesty about what the sliders will do to dialogue. Either way, lighting and shades are part of Play — not a separate remote hunt when the movie starts.
We measure. You keep the file. If a prior installer 'set it by ear' with a demo disc, that is not a theater we will put our name on until we run the room again.
